YouTube High Quality Video – How to Watch, Upload and Embed

There are a lot of websites offering you advice on how to encode, upload and embed your YouTube high quality video. however I found a lot of them to be outdated or I didn’t understand what they were telling me.

So I decided to do some research to figure out exactly what you really need to do to get your video up in high quality on Youtube.

Firstly, I wanted to always play the high quality version of YouTube videos. I worked out that you can configure your YouTube account to force it to always play the high quality version if available.

You see, by default YouTube determines whether or not you get to see the high quality video and that is determined on their end. but there are a lot of factors that may influence whether or not you actually get to see it.

Some factors are; latency with your ISP (internet service provider), time of day (peak times can affect connection speed due to user activity), where you are in the world (overseas connections may not be as quick to connect). however, you have broadband and once connected, have no problem with speed.

So the best thing to do is change the option in your YouTube account settings to always play high quality videos.

Also, what about making your own high quality YouTube video? It’s not as hard as people think. I tried several times, watching videos, searching the internet, but I failed.

Until I put some information together and figured it out

Do you know can create Youtube High Quality [youtubehq.info/generate-high-quality-youtube-embed-code/] video using the latest H.264 codec?

Huh? what is H.264? It is the latest compression codec from Apple that beats Divx and Xvid hands down.why? Because not only is the file size a lot smaller, the quality is very comparable, if not better.

Youtube now supports the H.264 codec, and by using the newer video conversion tools, video editing software, or even Camtasia Studio V5.1 you can encode your video in the H.264 format ready for YouTube in High Quality.

Ok, but what if you want to put the high quality version in your web site or blog? By default YouTube only give you the embed code for the standard (low quality) version.

Well, there is some code you have to add to the standard YouTube embed code. It can be a little difficult to find out as there is a lot of information around that is just plain outdated.

However, it is possible, and there is an automatic code generator that will actually create the code you are looking for.

How cool is that?

With High Quality YouTube video becoming the way of the future, you cannot afford not to learn how to create, upload and embed high quality YouTube video.

What Are the Requirements to Be a Natural Born Citizen of the United States?

It’s unambiguous in the Constitution:

No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

So.what exactly is a natural born citizen? Does it mean that children born by C-section aren’t eligible to run for President? no. That’s silly. but curiously, there hasn’t been a true legal definition of natural born citizen since the Constitution was written, so most courts apply the common law of the time. And when the Constitution was written, common law regarding citizenship was the same as common law of England.

In 1898, United States v Wong Kim Ark, the court ruled that:

It thus clearly appears that by the law of England for the last three centuries, beginning before the settlement of this country, and continuing to the present day, aliens, while residing in the dominions possessed by the crown of England, were within the allegiance, the obedience, the faith or loyalty, the protection, the power, and the jurisdiction of the English sovereign; and therefore every child born in England of alien parents was a natural-born subject, unless the child of an ambassador or other diplomatic agent of a foreign state, or of an alien enemy in hostile occupation of the place where the child was born. The same rule was in force in all the English colonies upon this continent down to the time of the Declaration of Independence, and in the United States afterwards, and continued to prevail under the constitution as originally established.

Long story made short, the common law of the United States is that if you are born on US soil, and your parents are not enemy combatants fighting against the US, or part of a hostile occupying force, or diplomats working in the US, or born on an Indian reservation (I’m not kidding), the child is a citizen. And being a citizen is entitled to every protection the law allows.

Oh, and it also allows children, born in the US, to foreign-born parents, to run for president.

So. Case closed. which is what the Indiana Court of Appeals cited when it dismissed a case challenging Obama’s citizenship in 2009.

There’s a post script to this, for all the birthers out there saying that natural born citizens have to be born to people who are citizens already. a great many Irish, Jewish, German, Polish, Italian, and Scottish immigrants were not citizens when they had their kids. that would make those children not citizens. And their children, being born to non citizens, also could not be citizens. Chances are, by the average birther’s definition, there are hundreds of thousands of non-citizens running around, even voting.

And oh, how I wish that would be the end of it.

Protests in Greece as cabinet approves debt deal

Thousands of protesters massed in Greece under heavy police watch Saturday after the government approved unpopular austerity cuts to get vital rescue funds and avoid the “chaos” of a default.

A protester, wrapped in a Greek flag, stands in front of police officers during a 48-hour anti-austerity strike, in front of the Greek Parliament on February 11. Protesters massed in Greece under heavy police watch after the government approved unpopular austerity cuts to get vital rescue funds and avoid the “chaos” of a default.

More than 3,500 people streamed to Syntagma Square in Athens on a second day of protests and a general strike, with hundreds of riot police standing guard following clashes that erupted during rallies on Friday.

But only a few minor scuffles took place Saturday and the protest ended peacefully.

The coalition government, weakened by the defection of six of its members, approved in the early hours the painful belt-tightening measures that the EU and the IMF have demanded in return for a 130-billion-euro ($171 billion) rescue package that Athens needs to avoid default in March.

“We are here to say no to what they want to impose on us,” said Sophia, a 38-year-old researcher, as other protestors held up a banner reading: “They are Ruining our Lives.”

Turnout was affected by the general strike that halted public transport to a halt in the Greek capital, with no metro, bus or trolley services, but more were expected to demonstrate Sunday when the measures go to a parliamentary vote.

In the northern city of Thessaloniki, police estimated a crowd of some 4,000 at a similar protest.

As the cabinet debated the measures on Friday, Prime Minister Lucas Papademos issued a stern warning after six members of his coalition government — four on the far right and two socialists — resigned in protest at the new cuts.

“A disorderly default would plunge our country into a disastrous adventure,” he told the cabinet. “It would create conditions of uncontrolled economic chaos and social explosion.”

“Sooner or later, (Greece) would be led out of the euro,” he warned.

The remaining cabinet members finally approved the deal and the Athens News Agency (ANA) said parliament would vote on it on Sunday, with demonstrations expected during the vote.

Speaking to their respective parliamentary groups, the leaders of the socialist PASOK and centre-right New Democracy parties on Saturday urged their MPs to vote in favour of the new debt deal.

“The new programme is difficult and harsh, but it is our only hope for avoiding extreme situations,” said former prime minister and PASOK leader George Papandreou.

“Now is the time of responsibility towards the country,” he added.

“We can begin stabilising with the debt deal because we will remove 85 billion euros (of debt) from our shoulders,” New Democracy leader Antonis Samaras told his party’s MPs.

“Now we must tell the truth and only the truth. we must look each other in the eye and be honest with the people to move forward … to ensure the nation’s destiny,” Finance Minister Evangelos Venizelos told PASOK’s parliamentary group.

Greece was explicitly told by its eurozone partners this week that it must agree to austerity measures in order to secure the release of further loans under the 130 billion euro bailout pending since October.

Greece needs the money to stave off bankruptcy on March 20, when Athens must repay nearly 14.5 billion euros in maturing debt.

Three texts will be put to Sunday’s vote: measures to recapitalise Greek banks, an authorisation for Papademos and the finance minister to sign the eurozone bailout, and a bond swap with private creditors designed to wipe out around 100 billion euros from Greece’s 350 billion euro debt, ANA said.

Details of the austerity measures will be included in a follow-up law to be introduced in the next two weeks, the agency said.

The measures, which include slashing minimum wages and facilitating layoffs, have sparked deep anger in a country where more than a million people, or more than 20 percent of the workforce, are unemployed.

The far-right LAOS party that was part of the coalition said it would not support the further austerity cuts, and its four members in government quit.

They were followed by the assistant foreign minister for European affairs, a socialist who accused the EU of “fixation” on a labour rights overhaul.

Another socialist, a deputy labour minister, had resigned Thursday.

The government intends to appoint replacements after the measures are approved by parliament on Sunday, state television NET said.

At least five socialist and conservative deputies have declared their intention to oppose the cuts on Sunday, and LAOS leader George Karatzaferis said his 16 lawmakers would do likewise.

“We are not going to vote,” Karatzaferis told a news conference, adding: “Humiliation was imposed on us. I do not tolerate this.”

In principle, the two senior coalition partners still have enough support to pass the measures.

Eurozone finance ministers on Thursday delayed a decision on a new bailout, giving Greek officials less than a week to meet tough conditions in exchange for fresh aid.

The ministers want Greek lawmakers to formally approve the measures, which include additional structural spending cuts of 325 million euros for 2012.

They also want a written pledge from coalition leaders that they will implement the reforms, Eurogroup chief Jean-Claude Juncker said. If those conditions are met, the Eurogroup would meet again on Wednesday.

Egypt’s military, security create football violence, leave country on edge – Bikya Masr

CAIRO: in November 2009, following the clashes that erupted between Algerian and Egyptian fans in Sudan over football that led to riots in Cairo’s Zamalek neighborhood I wrote that it was about football and only football. while many attempted to argue otherwise, those riots were hooliganism at its best. the most recent violence, which left at least 74 dead in Port Said, is anything but football related. it was a coordinated event led by the security forces to draw Egyptians to the streets, to show violence to the world, and create a scenario for which the military junta can remain in place.

It is easy to argue social ills, delayed marriage, poor economy, etc. as the root causes of the violence in the Port Said stadium, but after watching numerous videos of the incident, it appears to have been calculated, and in my opinion, the so-called al-Masry fans who attacked the Ahly players and fans following their victory, are most likely not supporters of the team; they are “thugs” given weapons to attack and cause unrest.

Proof that this was not about football is in the video shown on Ahly TV as the clashes began. Security forces, clad with shields and batons, hiding in a tunnel, watching and remaining immobile. They didn’t move to intervene. there were no attempts to stop the violence before it began, leaving only one thought: they wanted it to happen, and most likely instigated the violence by opening the gates to the pitch to allow people to pour onto the field en masse. Somehow the attackers were wielding a similar white stick, used to smash heads in.

One eyewitness said on Ahly TV that it was security that closed the stadium, barring Ahly fans from leaving, which led to more death and violence.

The military junta and its security apparatus must be blamed for the violence. it was on their watch. They did nothing to stop the clashes and, according to witnesses, encouraged the “supporters” of al-Masry to take to the field.

Ahmed Aggour, an active protesters and anti-military activist, wrote on Twitter that when the club fans of Mahallah and Ahly began to fight, security was quick to intervene, cordon off areas between fans and end the violence. So where were they on Wednesday night? Standing aside and watching?

The Egyptian military will certainly pay a high price for what happened on Wednesday. the Ultras – fans of Ahly – are among the most politicized and active in the country. They have taken to the frontlines in street battles in the country, most notably during the November violence on Mohamed Mahmoud street, fighting back police attacks in earnest. Their presence at protests is galvanizing.

Today also marks the anniversary of the Camel Battle, where former regime affiliates rode into Tahrir on camels and horses, using swords and knives to cut down anti-Mubarak protesters. February 2, 2012 could very well be the next movement for change in Egypt.

Football is a powerful force in Egypt. there are millions of Ahly fans across this country, and to watch as their friends and families are being killed will not see silence. We will witness what could be the largest demonstrations in the country against the military. the question now will be, what happens next.

The military junta should be afraid. They have unleashed arguably the one force that can bring them down: the Ultras.

It wasn’t about football last night, it was about the security fomenting and creating violence. Stirring unrest as a means to an end. Egyptians, it appears, are unwilling to sit idly by today and allow the military and their police to remain in power.

Links to Hussein Era Still Found in Iraqi Schools

Teachers wait for students to return to class at a school in Baghdad. (Photo: Max Becherer/Polaris, for the New York Times)

BAGHDAD – An old Arab saying goes something like this: Early learning is like etching on stone.

During recent visits to several Baghdad schools with my colleague Max Becherer, there were still, surprisingly, plenty of reminders of how this old adage was applied by the former regime of Saddam Hussein. Surprisingly because the successive governments that followed the U.S.-led invasion in 2003 have been working methodically to dismantle everything associated with the previous era. This naturally included schoolbooks. but I guess they have missed a few things here and there.

At the Khulafa al-Rashideen school in the impoverished neighborhood of Dolaie it is wall artwork.

The entrance of the school is adorned with a map of the Arab world – from Morocco to Iraq and the Arabian peninsula — in a nod to Saddam’s cherished pan-Arab motto: “from the Ocean to the Gulf.”

Hallways and stairwells glorify the Iran-Iraq war in the 1980s. one bizarre image is that of an Iraqi soldier, half tree trunk-half soldier, with a pair of angel wings. I think this is supposed to mean that soldiers, even the dead ones, are attached to their country the way trees are rooted to earth. After 2003 it was defaced with yellow paint.

The American military has spent $85 million on schools in Baghdad since October of 2006. (Photo: Max Becherer/Polaris, for the New York Times)

At another school in the Fadhil neighborhood, renowned for its diehard Baathists and Saddam loyalists, another surprise awaited me. Teachers still kept copies of Saddam-era books that were supposed to have been phased out when L. Paul Bremer III, who headed the US-led occupation authority until June 2004, decreed the reform of the whole education system.

This is some of what Mr. Bremer had to say on the matter in a speech on April 3, 2004 at the Ministry of Education:

“as we look to the construction of Iraq’s future of hope, no ministry, no part of the government is more important than the Ministry of Education.”

“the fate of the Land between the two Rivers rests in the hands of those you educate today. they are standing here before us. their parents and their religious leaders form their character and their faith, but you teach them the wonders of the world. Ever since liberation freed you of the distasteful task of glorifying the president, you can turn your full attention to that great responsibility.”

“Fortunately, you will be able to do this in a free and democratic country where individual rights are respected and no individual can assume the kind of power held by Saddam Hussein.”

“we have rehabilitated 2,500 schools and continue to work; the United States has provided almost 80 million schoolbooks and we have distributed nearly five million kits containing school supplies. Teacher salaries now average $120 a month and entry-level salaries have gone from $5 to $66 monthly.”

“In the new and free Iraq education will no longer suffer as it did under Saddam Hussein’s tyranny.”

A 1998 civics book.

For a taste of how the hearts and minds of the young were being shaped by Mr. Saddam I leafed through a fifth grade civics book published in 1998. It was given to me at the Fadhil school.

The cover features eager young boys from the Baath party’s Talae’e marching in a parade in their blue military fatigues and white sneakers. the Talae’e was founded in 1973 as the equivalent of the pioneer movement of the communist party. In addition to party indoctrination, it served as a vehicle for early age military training.

A picture of a smiling Saddam sitting on a throne-like chair emerges a few pages in.

A 1998 civis book featuring Saddam Hussein.

In the preface, the authors speak about being inspired by the ideology of the Baath party and the sayings of the “President and leader Saddam Hussein.”

Chapter one is about nationhood. “the invading Persians tried to encroach on our eastern border but we confronted their aggression,” it says.

“In the mother of all battles Iraqis stood with fortitude in the face of the American, NATO and Zionist aggression of 30 nations.”

A chapter is dedicated to the previous version of the current Iraqi flag. “Flutter high, o flag. In you we trust after God,” says the first verse of a poem.

In the chapter on the Talae’e, or pioneers, a photograph in Technicolor, shows Saddam on the verge of embracing a young pioneer. Others show pioneers in action: horseback riding, swimming and weapons cleaning.

“the Talae’e are explosive energies to bolster the spirit of victory in Saddam’s glorious Qadasiya and eternal mother of all battles,” says one line.

A civics book put out by the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq party.

The shaping of young hearts and minds goes on. Increasingly private schools focused on Shiite religious education are becoming more popular in Baghdad and many parts of the predominantly Shiite center and south.

A civics book at one such school funded by an affiliate of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq party features on its cover a Shiite shrine, a smiling teacher with prayer beads, a veiled girl clutching flowers and a boy with a copy of the Koran.
